Being inspired by the book - ‘That’s How We Bond – Chinese Culture’, I designed an origami set based on three folk tales about a family in Chinese culture. Through the folk tales and the origami of the characters from the stories (swallow, cuckoo, crow), it forms an interactive pack which reminds teenagers and young adults to be grateful for the love and care from their parent. It also allows the parents to use this pack as a material to teach their children to respect and be thankful for what their parents have done for them.

Washi is a traditional Japanese paper which made of local fibre, processed by hand and made in the traditional manner. As origami is from Japan, using washi for the packaging of the origami set highlights the cultural context of the design.
